The Ware Center for the Arts, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, will present a We the People First Friday on Friday, Sept. 4. It is free and open to the public.

The event will include a performance by father-and-son folk duo Mark and Jordan Rast from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lyet Lobby. Based in Lancaster, Mark and Jordan specialize in Appalachian traditions and bluegrass music, and their live performances feature the banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar.

The Ware Center will also host a reception to celebrate the opening of the gallery exhibit "Wild in the Shadows" by Lancaster County artist Rob Homan. The reception will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Regitz Gallery. Through intricate sculptures crafted from locally sourced wood, Homan's exhibit explores nature, animal forms, and people's connection to their lost human instinct. Homan spends hundreds of hours creating each sculpture through a process that involves creating a series of small gouges that are then painted in vibrant colors, bringing their nuanced textures to life.

From 5 to 9 p.m., the Ware Center will serve as a stop on the Lancaster Print Crawl, a citywide interactive printing event that showcases the design and print communities in Lancaster. The event helps to raise scholarship funds for local graphic design and printing students.
