The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County will hold its fall bus trip on Thursday, Oct. 1. Participants will visit Annapolis., Md., to gain insight into three historic homes. Participants will board the coach bus at Lancaster Shopping Center, 1625 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, at 8:15 a.m. and depart at 8:30 a.m.

The group will begin its exploration at the William Paca House, a 1760s Georgian mansion that boasts a 2-acre garden and offers a peek into the inner workings of an upper-class household during the Revolutionary period. The house was restored in 1965 using historical artwork and archeological excavations.

After enjoying a box lunch on the Paca Garden Terrace, attendees will hear a presentation on the ongoing James Brice House restoration project. The first cornerstone was laid in 1767, and the house subsequently experienced centuries' worth of repurposing. Since 2014, it has been managed by Historic Annapolis, which is transforming it into an educational museum.

The trip is scheduled to conclude with a tour of the Hammond Harwood House, which has an Anglo-Palladian design.

The group will return to Lancaster Shopping Center at 5:15 p.m.
