School Names St. Augustine Scholars

Eight members of the Lancaster Catholic High School Class of 2026 have been named St. Augustine Scholars. To receive this title, each student took 16 honors, Advanced Placement, or dual credit courses; three years of a foreign language; and Western Civilization, and he or she maintained a 4.0 GPA. In addition to these accomplishments, each honoree researched and authored an original thesis with the help of a faculty adviser.

The 2026 St. Augustine Scholars and their respective theses are Xariel Banton, "There's Someone in the Mirror: The Reflection of Historical Trauma in Horror Films"; Eliana Graybill, "Artificial Intelligence: Its Application to Forensic Science and Solutions for the Future"; Tyler Humphrey, "The Ethical Implications for Stem Cell Therapy"; Allison Parrish, "Modern Treatments of Alzheimer's With a Focus on Music Therapy"; Samuel Parrish, "The Evolution of Nuclear Energy and Its Safety"; Stephen Scott, "Beyond the Household: The Multidimensional Consequences of Father Absence"; Veronika Shick, "The Adaptive Brain: Understanding Neuroplasticity in Medicine"; and Ava Thurmond, "From Molecule to Movement: Caffeine's History, Biology, and Cultural Impact."

The students presented their research on May 8 in the library portion of the Dolores (Kirsch) Smith '65 Multimedia Learning Center. Copies of their theses will be printed, bound, and held in the library, where they will be available to future generations of student scholars at Lancaster Catholic.
