Concerts Planned at Park

The Strasburg Community Parks Foundation has announced its 11th annual Sounds of Strasburg summer concert series at Strasburg Community Park, 151 Precision Ave. Entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. on select Saturdays throughout the summer. Food and cold beverages will be available for purchase beginning at about 5:45 p.m. No alcohol or coolers permitted.

The season will open with award-winning, nationally touring Elvis tribute artist Jesse Garron on June 13. Joined by the Essential Elvis Tribute Band and choreographed backup singers, Garron will present his Vegas-style act. The food vendors will be Robino's 717 and Cupcakes by Casey.

The Trinidad and Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra will perform on June 27. The group has been presenting authentic, award-winning Caribbean steel drum music since its founding in 1971, and it has performed across the U.S. and around the world. It now includes musicians representing three generations of steel drum players. The food vendors will be Halo's Eatery and Kona Ice of Lancaster and York.

Max Impact will be featured on July 25. The group is the official rock/pop music ensemble of the United States Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., it is one of six musical ensembles that form the U.S. Air Force Band. It consists of six active-duty musicians and performs throughout the nation and abroad. The food vendors will be Stoney's Burgers and Fries, Penny's Ice Cream, and Joe on the Go Coffee Co.

The series will conclude with cover band Bad Slice performing hits from the '70s and '80s on Aug. 8. The food vendors will be Skip's Chicken and Joe on the Go Coffee Co.

The concerts are free and open to people of all ages. Donations to support the park are welcome. Guests are advised to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating on the park's terraced amphitheater.
