Team Earns Top-10 Finish at Competition

The East High Emeralds second-grade robotics team recently earned an eighth-place finish at the Global Sphero Indi Robotics Championship. Team members Wyatt McCrae, Sebastian Hernandez, Imogen Stambaugh, and Evelyn Herzer showcased their robotics and coding abilities in a series of STEM-based challenges. Competing against 18 kindergarten through second-grade teams from around the world, the East High Emeralds demonstrated teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills throughout the championship competition.

The Global Sphero Indi Robotics Championship introduces elementary students to robotics, coding, and computational thinking through hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) challenges. Sphero is an educational robotics platform used in classrooms to teach computer science, engineering, and coding skills. Through hands-on learning experiences, students test, revise, and improve their code in real time while developing collaboration and critical-thinking skills.
