EAHS Honors Student-Athletes, NNDCC Cadets

Eleven senior varsity athletes from Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) were recognized during a ceremony celebrating their commitment to continue their athletic careers in college. The event, part of the school's Athlete Recognition Day program, honored the students' hard work, dedication, and accomplishments both in the classroom and in athletic competition. It recognized their commitment, perseverance, leadership, and passion for their respective sports.

The honorees and their sports and colleges are Francis Burke, wrestling, Franklin & Marshall College; Dante Checco, cross-country and track and field, Messiah University; Keira Davis, softball, Kutztown University; Lex Hershock, swimming, Messiah University; Jack Ketchum, swimming, Brown University; Addison Knowles, field hockey, Alfred University; Isabella Lutter, volleyball, Misericordia University; Audrianna Resetar, track and field, Franklin & Marshall College; Ryan Siler, rugby, Susquehanna University; Cayson Ward, baseball, Albright College; and Kylee West, soccer, Penn State Berks.

In addition, EAHS recently recognized the achievements of its Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) cadets during the fourth annual NNDCC Awards Ceremony, held earlier in May. The ceremony honored cadets who demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic excellence, citizenship, service, military bearing, and commitment throughout the school year.

The NNDCC curriculum includes instruction in civics, national security affairs, naval history, leadership, oceanography, and technology, while also providing cadets opportunities to participate in service projects, ceremonies, and leadership activities throughout the year. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Wilkinson serves as the naval science instructor and faculty adviser for EAHS' NNDCC program.

The honorees included Abigail Brosey, Military Order of the World Wars Medal and Sons of the American Revolution Award; Joshua English, American Veterans (AMVETS) Award, Daedalian Award, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Junior ROTC Medal, and Stephen Decatur Award from the Surface Navy Association; Madelynn Esposito, American Legion Scholastic Award, Marine Corps League Award, Non-Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA) JROTC Award, National Sojourners Spirit of America Youth Leadership Conference Scholarship, and Vietnam Veterans of America Medal; and Lily-Ahna Glover, National Society United States Daughters of 1812 Medal.

Also, Malachi Gleason-Schmidt, Stephen Decatur Award from the Surface Navy Association; Chris Martin, NCOA JROTC Award; Anthony Polizzi, Marine Corps League Award; Juliet Sutton, Navy League President Theodore Roosevelt Medal; AJ Ward, American Legion Military Excellence Award, AMVETS Award, MOAA Summer Academy Scholarship, Military Order of the Purple Heart Award, National Sojourners Award, NCOA JROTC Award, Reserve Organization of America Award, Scottish Rite Award, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Award, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Award; and Ambria Yocum, National Sojourners Spirit of America Youth Leadership Conference Scholarship.

Additional recognition for leadership, service, promotions, and NJROTC program accomplishments was presented to Cadets Sadie Fleming, Gavin Germer, Mason Haupt, Carson Hoover, Mikhal Kauffman, Blake McKain, Cora Quickel, Connor Quinn, Yiovanni Ramos-Rosa, Payton Reardon, Nickolas Risberg, and Joshua Stark.
