Ephrata Cloister Posts Special Tours

The Historic Ephrata Cloister, 632 W. Main St., Ephrata, will offer Upper Floor Tours on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. and noon.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the unrestored second and third floors of the 1743 Saron building, or Sisters' House. This space maintains much of the structure's original 18th-century design and materials that aided in the building's restoration during the mid-20th century.

Tours will be available on a first-come, first served-basis and are suitable for visitors age 12 and older. Each tour will last approximately one hour. There is a fee, with a discount for Ephrata Cloister Associates members. Group sizes will be limited, and access to the second floor requires use of a narrow and steep staircase. All participants must sign a waiver prior to the start of the tour.

Tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the tours starting at 9 a.m. in the Visitor Center. An Upper Floor Tour ticket will also grant access to the regular guided tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.

Information about the Ephrata Cloister is available at http://www.ephratacloister.org. People with disabilities who need special assistance or accommodations should call in advance to discuss their needs. Pennsylvania TDD relay service is available at 800-654-5984.
