Students of the Month Honored

Manheim Central High School's Students of the Month for April are Derek Moffett and Erika Kline.

Derek, 18, is the son of David and Marilyn Moffett of Manheim. Over the past four years, Derek has been a member of the cross-country and track and field teams, as well as Science Olympiad, quiz bowl, and Spanish club. In track and field, he competes in the 400- and 800-meter races and has earned medals, a varsity letter, and the opportunity to compete at the Penn Relays. Through Science Olympiad, he has participated in earth science and engineering events, achieving a first-place state finish in Air Trajectory and fifth place in Dynamic Planet in 2025. He is also an Attollo Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society.

Through the Interact Club, Derek volunteers at community events, making balloon animals for children. Outside school, he is also a member of Boy Scout Troop 307 and recently completed his Eagle Scout project at Speedwell Forge County Park. Derek plans to attend a college to pursue a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, and he also hopes to eventually visit all 63 U.S. national parks.

Erika, 18, is the daughter of Kraig and Janet Kline of Manheim. She serves as vice president of Interact Club, co-president of BNN Club, and a leader in FCA Bible Club. Erika is also a member of the National Art Honor Society. She is captain of the girls' tennis team and a three-time varsity letter winner on the girls' track and field team.

Outside of school, Erika is involved in her youth group at Manheim Brethren in Christ Church and participates in community service initiatives through Interact Club, including volunteering at Pleasant View Communities, Home on Ferdinand, roadside cleanups, and Christmas at the Star Barn. After graduation, she plans to spend a year traveling and pursuing mission opportunities.
