Library Adds to Collection of Items

The Library of Things is growing at the Quarryville Library Center. The collection allows patrons to borrow items they may only need once or twice, and it provides the opportunity to try a product before buying it.

The available items include musical instruments, baking pans, and hotspots. In addition, American Girl dolls and Tonie toys, as well as puzzles and games, have been available for the last decade, and metal detector kits and blood pressure cuffs will be added soon. Patrons may also donate and obtain plants and yarn.

The Library of Things was started when library staff members were discussing what they could do for the library. They realized people may need certain items only once or twice or may not have the money to buy particular items.

Patrons and local businesses are welcome to donate items for possible use in the Library of Things. Donations will be accepted during library hours, and the items must be in good condition.

The mission of the Quarryville Library Center is to provide the freedom to read, spark curiosity, and empower the community with knowledge, while meeting the cultural and social needs of southern Lancaster County. Located at 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, the library is open on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
